Aion!

Nothing fuels my fury more than my current MMO, Aion.
The game has potential, beautiful graphics, a cool concept but it's glitchy as fuck and has horrible management.

The thing that gets me the most is the glitches.

I think I'll start taking screenshots when I can of said glitches because they make me rage so hard.
A few examples:

1) Skill cooldowns and battle timings.
So I'm fighting an enemy, I'm getting low on HP and so I pop a shield to give me a second to heal up.
Oh but wait! Even though my skill is on cool down and my combat log tells me that I've put up a shield, somehow the 600 damage skill goes through the 5,000 HP shield and I die!
Essentially, because his skill animation goes off before mine, the damage is calculated as having hit me, even though in the combat log it shows up UNDER where I have put up my shield. Oh and it's awesome to have a 10 minute cooldown on a shield popped while I was apparently and technically dead.

2) Sharp corners
I'm running from a whole bunch of enemies, they're close on my tail but just out of range so I think I can probably get away.
I turn a corner tightly and *snap* oh look I'm 20 feet behind where I just was and now I'm standing in the middle of the group of enemies who proceed to rip my head off. Turns out if you turn a corner tightly that teleports you to your death! Fun stuff.

3) General lag
NCsoft in all it's genius thought it would be an epic idea to have servers located in one place instead of having servers in different locations based on the region the server is meant for.
(for example, I am on a west coast server but oh, the server is actually located in Texas which means I get a lovely 350ms ping)
Okay, this wouldn't be so bad if you know... game play didn't depend so much on having a low ping. So I'm fighting someone or something, and it silences me, and I'm kiting the shit out of it trying to heal up and DPS. Oh but in the span of 20 seconds I hit my potion 5 times before it finally takes effect meanwhile I've lost precious healing time. And god forbid I should be able to kite properly without rubberbanding all over the fucking place.

4) Class imbalance
I play cleric, so I'm on the more OP end of the class spectrum, I'll admit. But I also have a chanter, which is really fucking stupid underpowered. Like I honestly don't know who sat down and drew up all the skills and weapons for each class and decided lets give chanters absolutely nothing to work with.
When I tell people about it, the either agree or give the same stupid argument. "Chanters are OP if you gear them up".
My answer: No. GTFO.
And if anyone actually takes 3 fucking seconds and some common sense they can figure out why.
Based on SKILLS ALONE chanters are underpowered. If you get the absolutely best gear possible for a chanter and put him up against any single other class with the best possible gear for that class, the chanter. will. lose. period.
Point being, if you gear up any player and pit them against a player that is lesser geared, sure you'll beat the living crap out of them, but that's comparing gear to gear, not class to class.

Likewise, Sorcerers are just stupid, unless you catch them off-guard, there is literally no way to beat a half-decent sorcerer 1v1.  They will simply CC you and burst you down while you're still drooling.

In my opinion, this is the order from most overpowered to most underpowered class:
  1. Sorcerers have magic accuracy boosting skills so forming any kind of formidable magic resist is next to impossible, and their skills can hit for upwards of 5k on a target with only ~10k HP that doesn't leave much room for error, especially if they just have you standing there looking like a tree or sleeping.
  2. Spiritmasters have fear. That's pretty much all that needs to be said. Oh look it's an enemy! I'm going to make you run into a wall for as long as I want or as long as I need to kill you while you can do absolutely nothing about it but die.
  3. Clerics are the only class that can go into nearly any dungeon and solo it where all other classes need a group. Clerics can solo every boss in Udas Lower, all but one boss in Udas Upper, all of Theolabs, at lower levels most of SR, FT, among others. We have a root with a ridiculously low cooldown, we have massive heals (with all my healing buffs up I can heal for 11k with a single skill, not including the skills that heal for a percentage of your total HP), instant heals, 3 different shields, and servants that can heal or do an incredible amount of damage so I can kite and DPS while you have to switch targets and kill a temporary minion or suffer ~1k damage every so often. We also get an instant cast, no cooldown dispell that can be used to take off any movement speed debuff in pvp, along with dots, blind, etc.
  4. Gladiators have a skill that removes any movement debuff and prevents you from putting movement debuffs on them for ~45 seconds. They have heals that can increase their HP and heal for a combined ~50% of their HP. They have a crapton of HP to begin with. They do a shitton of damage if you let them get close. They have a run speed skill they can use to catch up to you very easily. They knock you on your ass pretty much the second they hit you and use your stumbled state to proc yet another self-heal. They have an unpottable root that does not break when you are hit.
  5. Rangers may be the closest thing to a balanced class. If you are squishy or caught off-guard you can get blown up in 3 seconds flat by a ranger. Their opening moves add up really quickly, tend to keep you stun-locked and can usually burst you down in seconds. However, if you manage to survive their initial burst, their cooldowns give opportunity to take them down before they can burst you again, and thankfully they are very squishy.
  6. Templars are sort of balanced, but at the same time I think they're generally underpowered. Their DPS is relatively low but because of their massive HP and self-heals it's very hard to burst them down. Many classes will find that it's just not worth the time to try and kill them.
  7. Assassins poor assassins... they have such high DPS in pve, but in pvp they've been so terribly nerfed. I don't even know what to say, they're just there and when I see one I think aw poor sin, and I root him and then put him out of his misery.
  8. Chanters are so ronery =( Is it a healer? Is it DPS? I don't know! Where does it belong?! They have heals, but they all take forever to cast, and in the time it takes to cast it, chances are they get canceled. They do have ONE SHIELD! Oh but wait, it only block 40% of damage, oh and it cuts all healing down by 50%. Gee, thanks. Every single other close-ranged class has a way to break out of  roots to get to their ranged opponents, but Chanters, don't get a dispell, or anything... they just get to stand there. And as far as DPS goes, compared to other DPS classes, it's just mediocre.

let's compare Sorcerers to Chanters (lol, like they're comparable)
here's how it goes:
1. Chanter runs towards Sorcerer
2. Sorcerer pops Stone Skin
3. Chanter throws Inescapable Judgement and depending on the stigmas, maybe Mountain Crash at the Sorc
4. Skills bounce off stone skin, Chanter keeps running becasue those are the only ranged skills they have
5. Sorcerer roots Chanter
6. Chanter pots and keeps running
7. Sorcerer winter binds the chanter and jumps back, maybe silence, and then puts the Chanter to sleep
8. Chanter snores
9. Sorcerer casts delayed blast, magma eruption and Glacial Shard
10. Chanter drools
11. Chanter is dead or close to it and all he did was sleep.

Another thing, Chanter is the ONLY close-range melee class that has one, yes ONE, extendable weapon available. And the stats on said weapon, are not exactly amazing.
Gladiators can get Zapiel's spear, Bakarma's or Triroan's but Chanters get Triroan's and that's it.
So let's see how this goes, a Gladiator with extendable vs a Chanter who has yet to get Triroan (that stingy bitch) to drop a staff (FYI, it took me 280 theolabs runs before I finally got my Tri Staff to drop)
1. Gladiator and Chanter exchange their long range attacks and then run towards eachother
2. Gladiator uses ankle snare
3. Gladiator stands at 7m and beats the shit out of the Chanter
4. Chanter can't reach him so he stands there looking like an idiot trying to spam heal even though pretty much every heal will inevitably get canceled until he dies.

I could go on but it's endless how stupidly unbalanced things are, so I'll just say gj NCsoft on figuring that one out.

5) Management!
Well, lets start with the numerous failed events such as their "hey lets tell everyone to go to the arena and fight until there's only 1 person left, and we'll tell them not to form groups or alliances to last longer and of course they'll listen, because the world is made of candy and rainbows!" (aka Daevadome) event, or Halloween of 2009 where they hyped it up saying that at night there would be zombies and monsters roaming the streets and we had to fight them and defend atreia, and it turned out that translates to "we're going to give everyone some candy that turns you into a monster for 10 min!"
Oh there was also the "AFK Jump time" summer event that took place at the end of september (yay summer!) where people shoved pennies in their keyboard to keep their character actively jumping up and down in town because every 20 minutes of ingame time you got a free ticket you could trade in for items. Gee that was some fun lag walking into town and having 300 jumping bodies load in.

It makes you wonder if they just have a team sitting around thinking up cool shit and then they announce it without even seeing how it's technically possible.

There's also the numerous bannings for no apparent reason. And when you call and ask why you've been banned, they refuse to tell you and say stop calling.
My one legionmate used the ranger DP move (mau form) and a running speed scroll and was permanently banned for speed hacking.
Oh snap guys, apparently using ingame items and skills is against the rules!!

There's a lot more but i'm exhausted =(
You may ask why I still play. The reason - there are no other MMOs out there right now that don't suck more than Aion.
If someone releases something new that actually looks better than Aion, I will jump ship in a heartbeat.

*stews*
